Breitling Premier Chronograph 782 Venus Review
The Breitling Premier Chronograph 782 Venus is a rare and exceptional vintage watch that has been maintained in excellent condition. It was first produced in 1946 and today is sought after by those looking for classical gold watches that feature a signed dial.
Historically, Breitling has been highly regarded for its certified chronometers, which it fits into every model. Although its newer watches are designed for either aviators or divers, the Premier Chronograph 782 Venus is a show piece designed for business and luxury functions. However, this watch displays many of the characteristics common in Breitling time pieces, such as a polished case, prominent watch face and stylish bracelet. Many models utilize winding mechanisms which are automatic and since it was designed during the 1940s is free of electrical components of any kind. This watch was manufactured during a time when Breitling begin adding rounded slide rules to their chronograph bezels, which was designed primarily for pilots.
Overview
The Breitling Premier Chronograph 782 Venus is powered via a column wheel that is high grade. It has been adjusted and oiled, and uses a quality distressed leather strap that is brown in color. The case is made from chromium plating with a back case that is comprised of stainless steel. The pushers and crown are square plated and this watch uses outstanding acrylic crystal. The movement is accomplished through a 17 jeweled Swiss Venus which is premium grade and 170 caliber.
The dial is stunning and untouched, with original hands that are made from blue steel which display the hours, minutes and seconds. This vintage timepiece was revolutionary at the time of its release and over the last 70 plus years has become increasingly popular. Some models include rose gold in the case (18k) as well as a crown that is gold filled. The patina in the dial should be the original with minimal wear and the watch’s crystal should not display any cracks, chips or scratches. While most buyers prefer the original brown straps, some have replaced them with Kreisler straps which look just as good.
Highlights
This watch has a case size of 36 mm. The dial is gold colored and it has a total of 17 jewels. The watch is considered vintage as it was produced from 1940 until 1949.
